CVE-2024-0333Network attack vector

Malicious extension installation via insufficient input validation

Published Jan 10, 2024 · Updated Jun 3, 2025

Insufficient data validation in Google Chrome Extensions before 120.0.6099.216 allows attackers to install a malicious extension. Public records identify the Extensions component and a crafted HTML page, but Google has not disclosed the validation locus or the rejected data. Exploitation requires a privileged network position and user interaction with the crafted page, and the demonstrated consequence is unauthorized extension installation.
