CVE-2024-0321Public exploit

MP4Box crash via unchecked UTF-8 line copy

Published Jan 8, 2024 · Updated May 16, 2025

Stack-based buffer overflow in GPAC before 2.3-DEV allows local users to crash MP4Box by processing a crafted subtitle file. In gf_text_get_utf8_line in src/filters/load_text.c, strcpy copies a converted UTF-8 line into the caller's stack buffer without checking lineSize. The demonstrated path requires local invocation of MP4Box on attacker-controlled input and aborts the process after overwriting the szLine stack buffer.
