CVE-2024-0244

Code execution via unchecked PCFAX field length

Published Feb 6, 2024 · Updated Jun 17, 2025

A heap-based buffer overflow in affected Canon printer firmware 03.07 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code. The CPCA PCFAX handler copies a user-controlled fax-job field into a fixed-length heap buffer without validating its length. Any unauthenticated attacker on the same network segment can corrupt memory to run code in the device context or make the printer unresponsive.
