Unauthenticated post metadata modification via unchecked AJAX action
Published Jan 16, 2024 · Updated Jun 2, 2025
Missing authorization in EventON Premium before 4.5.6 and EventON Lite before 2.2.8 allows remote attackers to alter arbitrary post metadata. The public AJAX action eventon_eventpost_update_meta accepts an attacker-chosen post ID and metadata values without authorization or ownership checks. No account is required; the write can change or create metadata on any post, and unsanitized values can execute stored script when an administrator edits an event.
