Unauthenticated virtual-event modification via unchecked AJAX actions
Published Jan 16, 2024 · Updated Jun 2, 2025
Missing authorization in EventON Free before 2.2.9 and Premium before 4.5.9 allows remote attackers to alter virtual-event settings. The eventon_save_virtual_event_settings and eventon_save_virtual_mod_settings AJAX handlers accept event identifiers and replacement meeting or moderator fields without a capability check or valid CSRF token. Unauthenticated POST requests can rewrite stored meeting URLs, access details, or moderator assignments for an existing virtual event.
