CVE-2024-0217

Local package-management interruption via premature transaction cleanup

Published Jan 3, 2024 · Updated Nov 21, 2025

Use-after-free in PackageKitd 1.2.0 through 1.2.6 allows local users to interrupt package management through concurrent transaction completion. When one backend task remains active while another task in the same transaction finishes, repeated Finished signaling can free transaction memory before the idle callback uses it. Low-privileged local access is required, and the published impact is limited to PackageKit availability rather than data disclosure or modification.
