CVE-2024-0206

Local privilege escalation via registry symlink deletion

Published Jan 9, 2024 · Updated Apr 17, 2025

Link following in Trellix Anti-Malware Engine 6600 allows local users to delete protected files through a crafted registry entry. The engine accepts a symbolic link placed under the Trellix ENS registry folder and follows its target when a scan removes files. Low-privileged authenticated access to Windows is required; deletion under the engine's privileges can damage protected data and enable privilege escalation.
