Root command execution via svc_cava injection
Published Feb 12, 2024 · Updated May 6, 2025
OS command injection in Dell Unity before 5.4 allows local users to execute arbitrary operating system commands with root privileges. Dell identifies svc_cava as the injection locus but does not disclose which argument enters an OS command without proper neutralization. Exploitation requires authenticated access to Unity's restricted service shell and results in escape from that shell with root-level command execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
