Code execution via malformed STORE_STRUCTURED shader instruction
Published Oct 26, 2024 · Updated Nov 1, 2024
Out-of-bounds read in affected NVIDIA GPU Display Driver for Windows releases allows local users to execute code via a crafted shader file. The D3D10 shader parser processes a corrupted STORE_STRUCTURED instruction and reads beyond its buffer while compiling shader bytecode. Triggering requires local execution or user interaction with crafted content; the resulting access can disclose data, crash the process, elevate privileges, or execute code.
