CVE-2024-0117

Memory disclosure via malformed shader LD instruction

Published Oct 26, 2024 · Updated Nov 1, 2024

Out-of-bounds read in NVIDIA GPU Display Driver for affected Windows releases allows attackers to read memory via a crafted shader file. The nvwgf2umx.dll shader handler uses an LD-instruction value taken directly from malformed shader bytecode as a memory-read index without a bounds check. A victim process must load the shader; the read can expose process memory or crash the process, and legacy RemoteFX can relay the trigger from a guest.
