CVE-2024-0039Network attack vector

Remote code execution via unchecked GATT payload writes

Published Mar 11, 2024 · Updated Mar 13, 2025

Out-of-bounds write in Android 12, 12L, 13, and 14 Bluetooth allows remote attackers to execute code through crafted GATT traffic. The attp_build_value_cmd function allocates payload_size bytes but writes protocol fields before confirming that each field and the attribute data fit. Exploitation requires the Bluetooth stack to process the crafted GATT traffic, but needs no privileges or user interaction and grants code execution.
