CVE-2023-7272Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Service interruption via unlimited JSON nesting

Published Jul 17, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Denial of service in Eclipse Parsson before 1.0.4 and 1.1.0 through 1.1.2 allows remote attackers to crash JSON-processing applications. JsonParserImpl recursively builds nested objects without a depth limit, exhausting the Java call stack on deeply nested untrusted JSON. Exposure requires an application to pass attacker-controlled JSON to Parsson; successful exploitation terminates the parsing thread with StackOverflowError and can interrupt its service.
