CVE-2023-7253Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Internal service access via unrestricted remote URL fetch

Published Apr 24, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Server-side request forgery in Import WP before 2.13.1 allows remote authenticated users to send server-originated requests through its upload API. The /wp-json/iwp/v1/importer/{id}/upload endpoint accepts a remote_url value and fetches it without blocking arbitrary or internal destinations. Administrator access and a valid REST nonce are required; successful exploitation can query or modify reachable internal services, especially on multisite deployments.
