Contributor-level stored XSS via shortcode escaping failure
Published Mar 26, 2024 · Updated Apr 28, 2026
Stored XSS in Plugin Planet User Submitted Posts 20230901 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through shortcodes. The shortcode handlers accept contributor-controlled input without sufficient sanitization and output escaping, so a crafted payload is stored in a page and rendered as executable script. Contributor-level access is required, and exploitation occurs when another user opens the injected page, executing attacker-supplied script in that site's browser context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
