An out-of-bounds write in CISA ICSNPP-ETHERCAT through d78dda6 allows remote attackers to execute code via EtherCAT packets. The plugin's primary analysis function writes beyond an allocated buffer while parsing attacker-controlled EtherCAT packet fields; public materials do not identify the exact field or operation. Any traffic source whose crafted EtherCAT packets reach a Zeek sensor running the plugin can corrupt memory, crash Zeek, or execute code in its process.
