Local privilege escalation via protected-file deletion
Published May 1, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Privilege escalation in Webroot AntiVirus and Endpoint Protection before 9.0.35.17 allows local users to delete arbitrary protected files. WRSA.EXE exposes a privileged deletion operation to untrusted local software, but OpenText has not disclosed the command path or input-validation failure that permits attacker-selected targets. Exploitation requires low local privileges and user interaction, and successful abuse removes files that Windows or other processes would ordinarily protect.
