Private-note modification via unchecked post identifier
Published May 15, 2025 · Updated May 16, 2025
Missing authorization in WP Dashboard Notes before 1.0.11 allows remote authenticated users to modify other users' private notes. The wpdn_update_note AJAX action accepts a caller-controlled post_id and updates the referenced note without verifying that the caller owns or can access it. Contributor-level access is sufficient, and exploitation can overwrite another user's private-note data.
