CVE-2023-7238Network attack vector

Stored XSS via unsanitized DICOM study metadata

Published Jan 23, 2024 · Updated Jun 17, 2025

Stored XSS in Orthanc Osimis DICOM Web Viewer 1.4.2.0-9d9eff4 allows remote attackers to run JavaScript via a crafted DICOM study. The viewer inserts attacker-controlled study metadata, including StudyDescription, into its browser interface without safely neutralizing markup. Exploitation requires a victim to open the infected study; the script then runs in the viewer's origin and can access or alter browser-visible data.
