CVE-2023-7113Network attack vector

Cross-site scripting via unsanitized channel mentions

Published Dec 29, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Cross-site scripting in Mattermost 8.1.6 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject markup through channel mentions in posts. The post-processing path fails to sanitize channel-mention data before the web client renders it as markup. A logged-in attacker must create a crafted post and a separate user must view it; successful rendering permits limited browser-context data exposure or modification.
