Unauthenticated code execution via conditional-format string eval
Published Dec 24, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Code injection in Barracuda Email Security Gateway 5.1.3.001 through 9.2.1.001 allows remote attackers to execute code via Excel email attachments. Spreadsheet::ParseExcel Utility.pm ExcelFmt concatenates a cell conditional-format operator and value into Perl string eval without validation. Delivery requires only an inbound crafted Excel attachment; successful execution occurs during Amavis scanning and can install malware on the appliance.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
