Stored XSS via forged settings update
Published Jan 16, 2024 · Updated Jun 2, 2025
Stored XSS in David Miller Voting Record 2.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to inject scripts through a forged settings request. The WordPress administration endpoint at options-general.php?page=voting-record/voting-record.php accepts the primary_voter setting without a CSRF check, sanitization, or output escaping. An administrator must open attacker-controlled HTML while authenticated; the forged POST stores a script that executes when the affected settings view renders it.
