Contributor-level file upload via MIME bypass
Published Jul 10, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Arbitrary file upload in Advanced File Manager Shortcodes 2.5.3 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to place dangerous files on the server. The shortcode upload path exposes its nonce to authorized front-end users and accepts a disguised payload when MIME inspection examines a benign prefix. Contributor-level access is required; code execution follows when server configuration treats the uploaded file as executable.
