Authenticated XSS via malicious PDF upload
Published Dec 22, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Unrestricted file upload in PHPGurukul Online Notes Sharing System 1.0 allows remote authenticated users to trigger XSS via /user/add-notes.php. The endpoint accepts a crafted PDF containing JavaScript without sufficient content validation, and the payload executes when a user views the uploaded note. Exploitation requires a valid application login and a victim to open the uploaded file; the demonstrated impact is browser-side script execution and possible session or data theft.
