CVE-2023-7046Network attack vector

TLS private-key disclosure via web-root storage

Published Apr 9, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026

Sensitive information exposure in WP Encryption 7.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to read TLS private keys via HTTP. The plugin stores generated keys beneath the web root and relies on an .htaccess denial that some web servers do not enforce. Exploitation requires a generated certificate and web access to its key path; disclosure enables misuse of the affected site's TLS identity.
