Stored script execution via unescaped shortcode tag attribute
Published May 2, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Stored cross-site scripting in Baden Collapse-O-Matic 1.8.5.5 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts via expand shortcodes. The expand shortcode renderer fails to sanitize the user-controlled tag attribute and emits it without sufficient output escaping. Contributor-level access is enough to store arbitrary web scripts in a page, and the scripts execute whenever that page is viewed.
