Complete takeover via unauthenticated firmware installation
Published Mar 15, 2024 · Updated Nov 4, 2025
Improper firmware validation in Kontrol Lux 6.5.x through 6.5.07 allows physically proximate attackers to install malicious firmware via BLE. A separate update service routes OTA packets to handle_ota_packet without requiring the normal check_admin challenge or authenticating the firmware image. Bluetooth range is sufficient, and successful installation gives attacker-controlled firmware full control of lock behavior.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
