CVE-2023-7009Public exploit

Unauthorized command execution via skipped short-buffer decryption

Published Mar 15, 2024 · Updated Nov 4, 2025

Cleartext command processing in Sciener Kontrol Lux firmware 6.5.x through 6.5.07 allows physically proximate attackers to alter lock behavior. The BLE decryption routine derives a 16-byte block count with len >> 4 and skips AES decryption when a message is shorter than one block, yet returns a positive plaintext length when the final byte is nonzero and smaller than the buffer. Bluetooth range is required; the lock then treats attacker-controlled bytes as decrypted commands, enabling unauthorized changes to lock behavior.
