Physical unlocking via unlimited challenge-response guesses
Published Mar 15, 2024 · Updated Nov 4, 2025
Improper challenge retry limits in Hangzhou Sciener Kontrol Lux 6.4.5 allow physically proximate attackers to recover the unlockKey. During an active Bluetooth session, the firmware retains one 16-bit challenge after a wrong response and accepts unlimited further guesses. Bluetooth proximity and a captured encrypted authorization exchange are required; exhaustive guessing then recovers the key and opens the physical lock.
