CVE-2023-6977Network attack vector

Sensitive file disclosure via URI misclassification

Published Dec 20, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Path traversal in MLflow before 2.9.2 allows remote attackers to read sensitive server files through the tracking server. The is_local_uri function misclassifies scheme-less network-path references as nonlocal, allowing crafted artifact paths to reach files outside the intended store. Exposure requires network access to the tracking server, and disclosure is limited to files readable by the server process; integrity and availability effects are not established.
