CVE-2023-6955Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Cross-group workspace creation via unchecked agent authorization

Published Jan 12, 2024 · Updated Jun 27, 2026

Missing authorization in GitLab Remote Development allows remote authenticated users to create workspaces with cross-group agents. The GraphQL workspace-creation mutation accepts a project and cluster-agent pair without verifying that both belong to the same root namespace. In 16.5.5 and earlier, 16.6.0 through 16.6.3, and 16.7.0 through 16.7.1, adequate roles in both groups permit execution on the other agent's Kubernetes cluster.
