CVE-2023-6912Network attack vector

Account compromise via unlimited password guesses

Published Dec 20, 2023 · Updated Feb 23, 2026

Improper authentication-attempt restriction in M-Files Server before 23.12.13205.0 allows remote attackers to guess user passwords. Specific unauthenticated server API methods accept unlimited password guesses without throttling or another attempt limit. Network access to those methods is sufficient, and successful guessing compromises the targeted account without affecting data integrity or service availability.
