Subscriber-level option modification via missing capability check
Published Jan 11, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Improper authorization in Remix4 Slick Social Share Buttons 2.4.11 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to alter site options. The dcssb_ajax_update AJAX handler processes requested option changes without checking whether the caller has an administrative capability. A WordPress account with Subscriber permissions is sufficient, and successful exploitation can overwrite arbitrary site configuration values.
