CVE-2023-6838Network attack vector

Reflected XSS via unsanitized callback URL

Published Dec 15, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Reflected XSS in WSO2 API Manager and Identity Server allows remote attackers to run script in a user's browser through authentication endpoints. The authentication portal's basicauth.jsp derived URL parameters from attacker-controlled request data, while accountrecoveryendpoint error.jsp accepted a callback URL for its Back action without proper validation. Both authenticated and unauthenticated requests can reach the flaw, but exploitation requires a user to follow a crafted request; script can alter page content, read browser data, or redirect the browser, while httpOnly cookies prevent session hijacking.
