CVE-2023-6802Network attack vector

Management-console access via unredacted audit logs

Published Dec 21, 2023 · Updated Sep 13, 2024

Sensitive-data logging in GitHub Enterprise Server allows attackers with audit-log access to obtain management-console access. The audit-log pipeline writes undisclosed sensitive information that enables management-console access into appliance logs without adequate redaction. Exploitation requires access to appliance log files, a Backup Utilities archive, or a downstream service receiving streamed logs; GitHub has not disclosed the logged secret or triggering event.
