CVE-2023-6753Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Arbitrary file write via Windows URL traversal

Published Dec 13, 2023 · Updated Oct 8, 2024

Path traversal in MLflow before 2.9.2 allows remote attackers to write files outside the selected directory via a crafted HTTP URL. HTTPDatasetSource.load derives the filename with posixpath.basename, leaving Windows backslash traversal segments intact before opening the joined destination path. Exploitation requires a Windows process to load an attacker-controlled dataset URL; merely exposing an MLflow server is insufficient.
