Root command execution via insufficiently quoted eval
Published Jan 12, 2024 · Updated Jun 3, 2025
Local privilege escalation in Checkmk before 2.2.0p18, 2.1.0p38, and 2.0.0p39 allows local users to execute commands as root. The mk_tsm agent plug-in insufficiently quotes command-derived text before ksh eval creates environment exports from process-list data. A low-privileged user on a monitored host can place a malicious command in that data, causing the root-run plug-in to execute it.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=2.0.0 <=2.0.0p39
