Stored XSS via unescaped shortcode output
Published Feb 5, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Stored XSS in Advanced Custom Fields Free and PRO 6.2.4 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through fields. Contributors can write malicious custom metadata outside ACF's save path, bypassing its sanitization, and the ACF shortcode renders the stored value without HTML escaping. Contributor-level access and a page using the affected shortcode are required; visiting that page executes the script in the visitor's browser.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
