Sensitive-data disclosure via raw-event error logging
Published Dec 12, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Information disclosure in Elastic Agent 7.0.0 through 7.17.15 and 8.0.0 through 8.11.2 allows remote authenticated users to expose event data. When Elasticsearch rejects ingestion with a 4xx response other than 409 or 429, the agent writes the complete raw event to its WARN or ERROR log. The attack requires adjacent-network access and low privileges, and the reported consequence is sensitive-data disclosure without modification or service interruption.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
