CVE-2023-6605Public exploitNetwork attack vector

SSRF via unenforced DASH protocol whitelist

Published Jan 6, 2025 · Updated Nov 3, 2025

SSRF in FFmpeg 4.2 through 6.0 allows remote attackers to issue arbitrary HTTP GET requests via a crafted DASH playlist. The libavformat DASH demuxer's open_url and parse_manifest paths call avio_open2 without carrying the input protocol whitelist, so playlist URLs activate the HTTP handler. Exploitation requires a libxml2-enabled build processing input without an enforced format; returned content is consumed as media and allows partial disclosure through generated output.
