Subscriber-level option modification via unchecked AJAX handlers
Published Jan 11, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Missing authorization in Softaculous SpeedyCache 1.1.3 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to modify plugin options. Four AJAX handlers—speedycache_save_varniship, speedycache_img_update_settings, speedycache_preloading_add_settings, and speedycache_preloading_delete_resource—write submitted settings without verifying the caller's WordPress capability. Subscriber-level access is sufficient, and the documented consequence is limited to changing SpeedyCache configuration.
