Unauthenticated file overwrite via frame export path
Published Dec 14, 2023 · Updated May 22, 2025
Path traversal in H2O-3 before 3.46.0.1 allows remote attackers to overwrite arbitrary server files through frame export requests. The frame export handlers accept a caller-supplied destination path and write CSV, XLS, Parquet, or similar output without first denying sensitive filesystem locations. Default deployments expose the REST API without authentication, and successful requests replace files with H2O-formatted, partly attacker-controlled content.
