Unauthenticated file deletion via unsanitized attachment paths
Published Dec 16, 2023 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Path traversal in MW WP Form 5.0.3 and earlier allows remote attackers to delete arbitrary server files through public form submissions. The attachment cleanup accepts unsanitized filenames from POST data and deletes their resolved paths without restricting them to uploaded attachments. Exploitation requires Confirm and Submit with inquiry-data saving disabled; deleting wp-config.php resets the site for takeover.
