CVE-2023-6538Network attack vector

Configuration backup disclosure via manipulated URLs

Published Dec 11, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Improper authorization in Hitachi Vantara SMU before 14.8.7825.01 allows remote authenticated users to read SMU configuration backups. The NAS Manager web interface accepts a manipulated URL for the backup resource without enforcing the caller's Storage, Server, or Server+Storage role restriction. A valid account in one of those administrative roles is required, and the disclosed backup can expose otherwise restricted configuration data.
