Stored XSS via unfiltered first_name
Published Dec 1, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Cross-site scripting in SourceCodester User Registration and Login System 1.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute script via add-user.php. The endpoint stores an unfiltered first_name value, and home.php later renders that value without output encoding, causing stored script execution when the page is viewed. Exploitation requires a valid account and a victim visiting home.php; the demonstrated impact is browser-side script execution with confidentiality and integrity effects in that session.
