Authenticated command execution via unsanitized VLAN parameters
Published Apr 9, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Command injection in LG Electronics webOS 5.5.0 and 6.3.3-442 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands as dbus. The handle_set_vlan_static_address_command routine in libwca2.so passes the ip_address, bcast_address, and netmask parameters to a system command without sanitization. Exploitation requires READ_NETWORK_STATE permission and a preceding createVirtualLan call; the dbus account has permissions similar to root.
