Root command execution via unsanitized reportFile
Published Apr 9, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
OS command injection in LG Electronics webOS 5.5.0, 6.3.3-442, and 7.3.1-43 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands as root. The com.webos.service.cloudupload processAnalyticsReport method passes the reportFile parameter into a system command without sanitization when type is analytic. An authenticated profile with WRITE_NOTIFICATION_TOAST permission can reach the hidden method through notification onclose requests after placing a file with an attacker-chosen name on the TV.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
