CVE-2023-6251Network attack vector

Message deletion via missing CSRF token validation

Published Nov 24, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Cross-site request forgery in Checkmk's user-message deletion endpoint allows remote authenticated users to delete received messages. The endpoint accepts a message UUID in a state-changing deletion link without validating a CSRF token, so opening the crafted link applies the victim's session to the deletion request. The attacker must receive a user message and persuade another authenticated user to open the link; the bounded consequence is deletion before the message is read.
