Code execution or crash via oversized username
Published Feb 6, 2024 · Updated Jun 17, 2025
Out-of-bounds write in Canon printer firmware 03.07 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute code or crash the device. The Mobile Device Function authentication path writes an oversized Address Book username beyond its destination buffer. Attackers must reach the printer over its network segment; a successful write can interrupt service or take control of the device.
