CVE-2023-6231

Code execution or crash via unchecked Probe length

Published Feb 6, 2024 · Updated Jun 17, 2025

Out-of-bounds write in Canon printer firmware 03.07 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute code or crash devices via WSD Probe messages. The WSD Probe-message parser copies attacker-controlled data into a fixed-length stack buffer without validating its length. Exploitation requires network-segment access and no authentication, with code execution in the device context or a service-interrupting crash.
