CVE-2023-6222Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Administrator file read via unchecked FILE_PATH

Published Dec 18, 2023 · Updated Sep 30, 2024

Path traversal in Quttera Web Malware Scanner before 3.4.2.1 allows remote authenticated users with Administrator access to read files. The scanner-show_file AJAX action passes the attacker-controlled FILE_PATH value to a file-display path without restricting traversal sequences. A valid WordPress Administrator session and nonce are required, and the demonstrated consequence is reading files accessible to the PHP process.
